Earth Day Zines!

• Magic in the Desert by Wit, Will & Witchcraft 
  • This is a zine that talks about how to perform key aspects of witchcraft when you live in a desert environment. The zine talks about the type of climate that a desert has, and the kinds of flora and fauna that can be used in spells. There are certain recipes you can use, specific ingredients, and a calendar of the different times of the year to practice certain things in the desert. 
• Drawings of my yard Summer 2006 by Joe Marshall 
  • This is a collection of drawings of nature seen from a backyard in the desert. There are many art pieces showing trees and the natural landscape in Tucson, Arizona. 
• Welcome To This by Marta Chudolinksa 
  • This is another collection of artwork depicting a fantasy landscape, that often uses images of flowers and mature. The drawings are all in soft colors of green and purple, and hold a consistent theme throughout. 
• Climate Anxiety: What we can do about it by Fuerte 
  • This zine discusses some feelings that may be brought up when discussing the current climate crisis, and attempts to explain the concept of  “climate anxiety” through similar experiences people may have. It goes into ways to remain resilient, and provides resources/tips on how to remain vigilant in crisis. 
• Climate Emergency by Amelia Greenhall 
  • This zine is filled with recommended readings that have to do with the current climate crisis. It is categorized into different sections discussing topics surrounding the environment, such as “Solarpunk”, “Showing Up and Organizing” and “Sci-Fi Thrillers”. 
• Autumnal Glimmers: a celebration of fall by Laurie Blackwell 
  • This zine has a collection of drawings depicting images from the fall season, accompanied by quotes from literature that discuss autumn, and what it can represent in our lives. This piece is a collection of fallen leaves and crisp weather.

Gib Manrique (he/they) is a writer, poet, and journalist occupying a space in the Arts District of Downtown Phoenix. He has written for several student news publications and independently published his own work. He also refers to himself as transgendermexican4000, as a lot of his work is related to those identities within his life.
