July 2024 Mid-Year Report

A look back at our six months of programming, distribution, printing, and publishing in 2024!

A note from Charissa
Thank you for supporting Wasted Ink in 2024! We've been happily busy providing workshops and programming, and printing and distributing zines in our new studio. Comparing the first two quarters of 2024 to 2023, we have increased our zine programming by 66% and more than doubled our unique participants bringing the total over 1,700. We've continued to steadily increase our zine distribution numbers year-over-year and have so far distributed over 1,600 zines this year. We've more than quadrupled our zine printing in the first six months of 2024 and have printed almost 4,000 zines! 
We've attended great events like the Northern Arizona Book Festival, Association of Writers and Writers Programs Conference (AWP), Tucson Zine Fest, LA Zine Fest, and the Zine Pavilion at the American Library Association Conference (ALA).
Our Fall calendar is filling up with events and activities so be sure to schedule a zine workshop now for Fall and Spring. Thank you for your continued support and community care!

A Look at Our Mid-Year Report January - July 2024 

Programming

• Provided over 150 hours of zine events, workshops and programs for over 1700 people. Programs include Zine Nights, Zines as Activism workshops, Bad Art Clubs and Tea and Typing Nights.​

• 20 artists on display in Raiz Gallery: 

          Dempsey Keenan, Mary Hope Lee, Julie Elefante, Charissa Lucille, Ben Kantt, Jupiter Star Power!, Damon Begay, Luisa Martinez, allison anne, Ames Neumann, Kelly Jean Janich, SATURNHEX, Anne Marie Helgren, Ren Chu, Beige Blum, Annie De Tijana, Harshini, Emiland Kray, Shelby Rinke, Ngan Huynh

• Currently 0rganizing the 8th annual PHX Zine Fest, September 14 & 15 at The Nile Theater.

​Distribution

• Distributed 1622 zines from January-July, 2024 through our in-person store, online store, wholesale program, and various pop-up events. (Wasted Ink has distributed over 13,234 zines since opening almost nine years ago!!)
• Completed our annual inventory audit and are currently adding dozens of new zines to our online store.

Printing & Publishing

• Printed 15 zine projects for community members totaling over 3,800 printed zine copies for projects like TransForming AZ, LOOKOUT, Girls Rock! Phoenix, Pan End It!, and many more!
• Provided zine layout and design for projects at our new community print space, Paper Jam + Print

• Compiled over 300 take-and-make zine kits

We've been designing, printing, and producing LOOKOUT's magazine with talented Theo Quest all year!
