"What started off as a cape stone project when I was attending university, has now become a very meaningful on going project for me. While working and perfecting (to the best of my ability) the last few years on my zine - that focuses on what it means to be a Chicano/a (a person of Mexican descent born and raised in the United States) it was enlightening to learn about the ways in which Chicano culture embodies the in-between nature of culture hybridity." "I wanted to create something that makes not only me but my community and anyone who stumbles upon this zine feel seen. I have spent a lot of time learning how to not only express myself through writing but I also photographed almost all photos in this zine (after never touching a professional camera before), styled, and creative directed this entire process alone with the assistance of friends volunteering to model. Although I restarted and changed so many things from this zine constantly, I finally feel ready to share this project fully as it truly has been such a passion project."
