Goosefingers is a zine duo made up of two gay lil fellas, brought together by a love of collage, saucy ladies, and each other. Han - "When I was in high school I was really into Rookie Mag, which had a tutorial on how to make zines. At the same time, I was into riot girl bands that were also a part of zine culture and inspired me. I started making zines about women I thought were cool and inspiring and I have been making zines ever since. I especially like making mini and folded paper zines that can be both a big piece of art and also a collection of smaller pages that make a story.
I like to collage and cut out materials from books and magazines to make zines. I have a series of zines about holes that started while I was depressed - it connected with me at the time. But then, I just got really into holes. I found a kids book about space and black holes and I was inspired by how they could take a big idea and make it simplified. I wanted to see if I could take these big scary earth things and break them down into smaller, more digestible pieces." Tess - "I only started making zines in earnest this year, although I realized once I started that I had had elementary school teachers that had sneakily had us make zines as projects! So far, I've been interested in zines with interactive elements - 'girly' calendars with places to write goals and accomplishments, zines with pages that fold out and have daily fortunes, and handkerchiefs and stamps that reflect my love of printmaking. Han has really inspired me to get more into zines and I've loved how this has given me more avenues to try out different mediums when it comes to making and sharing my art."
