PZF '24: Mara Gervais

Mara Gervais is amskapi pikuni & fil-am, queer, gender-fluid non-binary, and from the Davis, California. They make zines, stickers, and prints - all their work is homemade. They're obsessed with reading comics, skateboarding, and eating spaghetti!

• I Made You A Mix CD Because I Have A Crush On You - Buy this zine & CD combo if you want your SO to find it in your center console and get the wrong idea. Featuring 20 of my past, and current favorite songs (an hour and 20 minutes of music) along with a glimpse into my life at the time when I listened to them most. Topics range from teenage hooliganism to crushes, exes, and hook-ups; along with the constant theme of loneliness. Deeply personal and embarrassing, read if you've ever wanted a look into my diary; sorry if I wrote about you (alternatively, sorry if you didn't make the cut).
  
• Not Trans Queer Brown Enough - An autobio perzine about identity and feeling like an outsider in one's own marginalized communities.
  
• Mushroom Cap Morphology - An illustrated zine that teaches you how to classify mushrooms based on their cap.
  
• Getting My Fill - An autobio Tijuana Bible (a palm sized pornographic comic) about masturbation and sex.
  
• No-Comply - An illustrated mini-zine featuring Alex Gradziel doing one of his favorite skateboard tricks; folds out into a poster showing the full sequence of a no-comply on the back!
  
• 10+ Years in Film - A film photography zine featuring photos taken over 10+ years
  
• I'm So Tired Of Trying - a zine featuring drawings made during a period of deep depression
  
• Does This Make Me Vain??? (A Decade Of Self-Portraits) - a zine featuring self-portraits in different styles made from 2013 - 2023
  
• Holy Cider Broken Bell by Ian O'Hara - A collection of poems written between 2015 and 2023 that mystifies the regular and tackles the distance of recollecting relationships both big and small. "Holy Cider Broken Bell" meanders with poems and illustrations in hand to identify landscapes of concrete and day light while thinking aloud in a commute of sincerity and calm.
  
  • Originally printed as a Christmas gift to Ian's partner Sandrusia. Printed by Sandrusia's internet childhood friend, Mara Gervais. They both share the same birthday.
