Mona Morsy is a poet, writer and content creator from Phoenix, Arizona, whose work is deeply influenced by her experiences as an LGBTQ+ individual and the rich tapestry of her cultural background. Born and raised in Phoenix, Mona has always found solace and expression in poetry and writing. These mediums have become her way of sharing and exploring the various aspects of her life and identity. "I created a comic book based off of my poetry, titled Love by Lamplight. It’s a collection of four distinct poems, each brought to life through the stunning illustrations of an indie comic artist named Devon Del Castillo. The poems weave together, themes of love, loss, resilience, and the quest for light amidst darkness. I have also divided the comic book into four smaller zines that each house one of the poems in standalone editions. This is the first issue of a collection and by the end of the year I will have the second issue complete. My vision for this series is bold and innovative, where I want to collaborate with different artists for each separate issue and allow them to, illustrate how they perceive the poems I’ve written. The second issue will have a different Artist than this one."
