Insubordinate, is the first published collection of poetry by Seattle spoken word poet, Ebo Barton. In the summer of 2019, Ebo Barton was labeled “insubordinate”. After careful reflection, they discovered, that as a Black and Filipino, Transgender and Non-Binary, Queer, Artist, Educator and Writer, that all those who are on the right side of history were always marked, “Insubordinate”. This collection features fourteen of Barton’s poems, capturing snippets of their story and revealing that their personal and political are permanently tangled in a world built to never see them survive.
