Intentionally slowing down, I deconstruct generational trauma as a first generation Asian American woman. I believe in decolonizing systems of oppression that define, restrict, and police our minds and bodies. My zines rediscover unapologetic ways to transform space for yourself in hopes of nurturing inner growth My zines are my way of slowing down and unpacking trauma. Mental illness is an ongoing conversation in my work, conversations I wish I had as a child. I believe in de-stigmatizing depression and opening up a safe space to heal and care for yourself. I address generational trauma from the perspective of a first generation Asian American woman. I wish to identify toxic behavior that has emotionally stunted myself and my family; which has prevented vulnerable and authentic growth. I create in hopes of bringing awareness to old patterns that no longer serve us.
