Buttons & Figs - Wordplay Zines for Kids

10/10/2021

I host a podcast with and for elementary school age kids who like to wordplay. The show is called Buttons & Figs. I collaborated with the artist Jim Cheff to produce wordplay zines that compliment the program I offer to kids. The zines are designed to inspire kids to play with words, with topics like alliteration and homonyms.
Pamela Rogers is a librarian, musician and creator of Buttons & Figs. She created the show and zines to inspire kids to wordplay. Wordplay inspires kids to laugh and have fun, making it easier for them to express themselves in joy, not judgement. The Buttons & Figs alliteration and homonym zines were drawn by another Arizona kids podcaster, Jim Cheff. Jim wrote and produced the podcast Mary Farfisa's Outer Space Radio Theater and has a host of zines from the show. Pamela also loves to make zines with kids, not only because it's fun but the format inspires kids to think about the process of telling a story.

Themes include: figurative wordplay for kids
