Porch Beers

​Porch Beers is a zine looking at pop culture through a queer and Appalachian lens.  Issue 1 was about the various fandoms I've been a part of.  Issue 2 (out August 2021) is about my home state of West Virginia.  Two projects in the works that'll hopefully be out by the fest are a zine about Covid and Issue 3 of Porch Beers detailing memories associated with my favorite songs.  

I'm a queer trans dude that was raised by my grandparents in small town West Virginia.  I started making zines when I was 13 thanks to a Yahoo newsgroup.  I'm 35 now and picked the craft back up after a long, long hiatus.  I like writing about the pop culture I love and hate, and all the memories associated with it.  I've got a windbag Creative Nonfiction sort of style.  

Themes include: small town life, queer and trans takes on pop culture, slices of life, the personal is political
