Cartonera Collective is one of Cardboard House Press's community projects, which consists of facilitating workshops where we handcraft bilingual editions with members of the community. These workshops not only expand the audience for the books we publish, but they also provide a hands-on experience in which community members participate in production, develop connections to the poetry, and widen their creative and cultural horizons. Facilitated by maryhope|whitehead|lee, Ryan Greene, and Claudia Núñez de Ibieta, the workshops create space for participants to learn techniques including hand sewing and binding pages, marbling endpapers, linocut printing, and creating book covers from recycled cardboard.
